"The toxic effects of added-sugar are pervasive. The problem has now become a childhood disaster"


"Added-sugar", a non-nutritive sweetener, is toxic to our liver cells and results in fat accumulation inside the cells and fatty liver disease. If this goes on unrecognized, it can result in cirrhosis of the liver and liver failure. This added sugar-driven "addiction" is largely responsible for Type 2 diabetes, heart disease, autoimmune diseases, cancer, and even dementia.


Did you know that fatty liver disease occurs in up to 10% of American children? The current dietary guidelines for 2020-2025 states that < 2 year olds should not consume added sugar. This means that we should discontinue sugary drinks and ultra-processed food altogether.


Based on the 2020-2025 dietary guidelines for Americans, a Whole Food Plant-Centric dietary pattern is recommended; one rich in fiber and nutrients, protects the liver, and feeds the gut. Check out the dietary guidelines below:
